HIGH DESERT TRAIL FEASIBILITY STUDY

BACKGROUND

In 2001, the High Desert Trail Committee, a private organization, proposed a long-distance OHV trail route that would stretch from the southern Utah border to Beaver, Utah, and connect to the Paiute Trail. Their proposal was presented to the counties, federal agencies, cities, and towns along the proposed route. The High Desert Trail Study Team was formed by these agencies and entities in May 2004 to look at the feasibility of designating this route over federal, state, and private lands.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between all the partners to study the proposal. The partners intend to contribute in-kind services to the effort. If it appears feasible the partners will develop a project/activity plan and implement actions for the trail system.
